News & Announcements9/21/2011 | Another $61,000 Raised by BLJC for Cancer Research On September 13, 2011, BLJC hosted our 11th annual BLJC Charity Golf Classic in support of SickKids Foundation and The Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation. A record $61,000 was raised, which will be shared by these two Foundations to fund life-saving cancer research. This beat our previous record of $60,000 from last year! SickKids is the largest paediatric academic health sciences centre in Canada. Doctors from around the world come to SickKids for specialized medical and research training. SickKids is proud of its vision, “Healthier Children. A Better World.”™ In the 11 years that the tournament has been running, with the help of our many suppliers and colleagues, we have raised over $570,000 for cancer research at The Princess Margaret and The Hospital for Sick Children. For the fourth year in a row, our tournament was held at Wooden Sticks golf course in Uxbridge, Canada’s most inspired golf course. Once again, the tournament was sold out in just TWO weeks. With the forecast of possible thunderstorms, we beat the odds with sunny skies. 144 golfers enjoyed the beauty of this inspiring golf course replicating holes from famous courses around the world. An enjoyable day of golf was followed by cocktails, dinner and a silent auction. Congratulations to the winning foursome from Sweeny, Sterling, Finlayson & Co.
