11/1/2010 | BC Charity Casino a winning event

BLJC-WSI hosted their inaugural BC Charity Casino and Auction on Friday, October 1, 2010 at the Delta Victoria Ocean Pointe Resort and Spa. The funds raised went to support KidSport Greater Victoria, a local non-profit organization that is part of the KidSport Canada network of organizations whose goal is to ensure that kids in financial need can participate in a season of sport and physical activities. Funds raised locally are spent locally and every $200 dollars raised assists a child for a season of sport. The event was a huge success, raising $20,000.

“From my personal perspective, and having attended the BLJC Markham Charity Casino, and now having the unique chance to co-host the BLJC-WSI Victoria Charity Casino, I am very proud of what we accomplished,” says Clinton Scott, General Manager of BLJC-WSI.

More than 250 guests, including vendors, BLJC-WSI team members and clients played blackjack, roulette, and wheel spin. As funds were being raised through the casino events, bidding was occurring on the amazing silent auction items. The evening ended with good spirited rivalry being demonstrated at the live auction.

“It was a premier event. It was not only fun but provided a great opportunity to interact with our team and the business community in support of a single goal. The results were significant… 100 children who previously wouldn’t have had the opportunity to play now will. That’s something to be proud of!” said Brian Fellows, Executive Vice-President and Regional Ambassador, Corporate Social Responsibility.

To raise $20,000 for KidSport in our local community while having fun doing it is a very special thing.”
